Kids and Computers

Going on the Internet has become part of our everyday lives. So naturally, kids are also drawn to the Internet to explore, play, and learn just like adults. However, the Internet is full of many things that are simply not "kid friendly".

Here are a few web sites that can help you with your kids and their computers.

Internet safety information

Get Net Wise is a good site with a lot of general information on Internet safety, and also section just for kids. You'll find in the kids' section a "Tools for Families" link, "Web Sites for Kids", and also an Online Safety Guide.

Movie ratings that actually work!

Kids in Mind is a great site for finding out about movies. For many kids, there are certain things that they are just not old enough to view right now. Even when a new movie comes out, you can find a detailed (and graphic) description of everything in the movie along with a rating system to help you determine if it is suitable for your child. FYI, there have been some pop ups on this site, but nothing that is harmful to your computer.

Cyber Patrol software box

Now here's the best of them all. Cyberpatrol. Being able to find anything and everything is what makes the Internet great. But this is also what can make the Internet dangerous for your children. Cyberpatrol takes the worry out of the Internet. It is considered parental control software and that is exactly what it is. Set a password when installing and you now have full control over what your kids can do on the Internet. Cyberpatrol's default settings are great and beyond that, it is fully customizable to suit the level of filtering that you require. Give it a try.
